Cashing in on the 'stupid' tag - She may not know who the President of India is, but this low on IQ actress is pretty smart otherwise. Why do we say so? Well, you have to be smart enough to cash in on your popularity. And you're even smarter if you turn negative publicity into positive to become more famous. Alia Bhatt didn't sulk in the corner when people made fun of her and her general knowledge. Instead, she cashed in on that opportunity and very sportingly came out with a video where she mocked herself.

Alia Bhatt has had the nation crazy either with her movies or jokes and memes on her. While she did manage to become the butt of jokes after her very famous 'Koffee With Karan' episode, she surprised all her detractors with a cool 'Genius Of The Year' video. Alia may have gone from zero to hero in a matter of a few hours alone, but we wonder if the 'stupid' tag was relevant to her at all anyway? Here we have listed down seven reasons we think Alia Bhatt is anything but 'stupid'.

Manages to stay in news - Alia Bhatt manages to stay in news and in today's day and age that is definitely a smart move. Apart from Twitter and Facebook trolls, memes and jokes in general that she takes in her stride, there are a number of other reasons why she is the talk of the town. So far, all her films have done well at the box office and the actress who made her big Bollywood debut with Karan Johar's 'Student of The Year' has an enviable lineup of films. Apart from her films, Alia makes for spicy tabloid news for her various alleged affairs. The actress has been linked to her co-stars Varun Dhawan and Arjun Kapoor, but has never completely ruled out or acknowledged these rumours. Apart from the affairs and films, Alia is now also known as a singer. The actress sung 'Sooha Saha' for music maestro A R Rahman in the movie 'Highway' and topped it up with her 'Samjhawan' number for 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania'.

Choice of roles - While a lot of young actresses have a lot of enviable projects lined up, Alia Bhatt and her choice of films deserve a mention here. From the ultra glamourous Shanaya Singhania in Karan Johar's 'Student Of The Year', Alia took a U-turn for Imtiaz Ali's 'Highway'. She went de-glam as Veera Tripathi in the film and gave an applause worthy performance in the same. Alia was then seen in Chetan Bhagat's '2 States' and played the role of a South Indian girl with grit. We last saw her in the film 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania' that was a mass entertainer. She has now bagged 'Shaandar' opposite actor Shahid Kapoor that will be directed by Vikas Bahl of 'Queen' fame.

Good connections - Alia Bhatt's friends in the film fraternity are top notch people. She made her debut with ace director Karan Johar and since then tags along and befriends important people and rising stars in the industry. She hasn't been involved in any cat-fight with her contemporaries and maintains a good friendship with everyone from Parineeti Chopra to Shraddha Kapoor. After having worked with the likes of AR Rahman and Imtiaz Ali, Alia's 'friends' in the industry are now top notch people. To get these contacts and amazing scripts for films, you have to be smart enough and looking at the way Alia's career path is going, we sure don't think it is stupid.

Not working with family - We think Alia Bhatt did a smart thing by not signing any film with the Bhatts. While she got meatier roles in films so far and has even been applauded for her acting skills, the actor decided to step away from her family and achieve all this. If Alia would have done films with Mahesh Bhatt and her family, people would have criticised her for achieving her stardom at the behest of her already famous last name. Her decision to stay away from Vishesh Films and go hunt for work elsewhere was surely a 'smart' move.

Singer - Alia Bhatt is primarily an actress and has secured a place for herself in Bollywood. After she made an entry into films, Alia soon was seen crooning for none other than AR Rahman in 'Highway'. After Rahman thought she was worthy enough of the microphone, Alia sang the beautiful 'Samjhawan' for her film with Varun Dhawan - 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania'. Bollywood's latest sensation now plans to cut an album in the future. After Priyanka Chopra launched herself as a singer, Alia Bhatt may be the next one to follow. Multi-tasking two careers simultaneously is a mean feat and not something that a dimwit is capable of.
